Together We Can

Longville Park Community came together to assist residents in need

Good morning residents, my name is Alphanso Lewis and I am the assistant Public Relations Officer for the Longville Park Community Development Committee and the president of the Longville Park Citizens’ Association.  Approximately two weeks ago, we made an announcement to the residents that we have launched an initiative called Our Community Cares.

This initiative is geared toward identifying individuals living in Longville Park and is currently in need of help during this Covid-19 pandemic.
To this end, we asked residents to identify persons in need such as: the elderly, persons living with a disability, persons living with a chronic illness and anyone who as a result of the current pandemic is having it extremely difficult to manage just now.  We have also appealed to the generosity of the heart of the residents and key stakeholders in donating toward the initiative in the form of cash or kind.

Today I am pleased to report that with your generous response we have been able to put together a total of thirty (30) care packages for the selected residents and was able to deliver them between Thursday, May 7 and Friday May 8, 2020.

I would therefore like to use this opportunity to say thank you!
Thanks to our MP, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr. who was more than ready to give his contribution.
Thanks to our Caretaker, Mrs. Patricia Duncan-Sutherland who swiftly came forward and registered her donation.
Thanks to the Church fraternity in Longville Park who gave generously toward the cause.
Thanks to the business fraternity who did not hesitate to give bountifully to the cause.
Thanks to the residents, the bedrock of our community, who dug deep in this challenging time and found it possible to give to the cause.
For those persons who laboured tirelessly to make it happen, thank you.  Thanks to the members of the Longville Park CDC executive for your input.
Finally yet importantly, thanks to my hard-working executive from the Longville Park Phase Three Citizens’ Association.  You have gone above and beyond to see this initiative realised.

Residents and key stakeholders, you have shown that we can be our brother’s keeper let’s keep the momentum and love going.
Keep safe, keep observing physical distancing, remember, sanitize regularly and wear your mask, especially when in crowded spaces.
God bless you all and God bless our noble community: LONGVILLE PARK
